The Future of Adult Education Begins in Valencia: The FutureForward Transnational Training Course

From June 9 to 13, 2025, the vibrant city of Valencia hosted the Transnational Training Course of the European project FutureForward — a key moment of exchange, collaboration, and learning dedicated to adult education in the age of artificial intelligence.

Held at the Faculty of Teacher Training of the University of Valencia (Facultat de Magisteri), the course brought together professionals, educators, and project partners from across Europe. Its main objective was to explore and test innovative approaches to integrating artificial intelligence (AI) tools into adult learning practices.

A Rich and Engaging Programme

The training officially began with an introductory session led by the team from the University of Valencia, focusing on the educational needs of adult learners in the context of AI.

One of the highlights of the first day of activities was the literary route through Valencia’s historic city centre, inspired by the poet Maria Beneyto. This external activity demonstrated how AI can enhance cultural and educational experiences in outdoor, non-formal learning settings.

On the third day, participants engaged in a practical workshop, delivered in two parts. The first session focused on the methodological aspects of using AI in adult learning environments, while the second provided a hands-on opportunity to experiment with specific AI tools, selected for their relevance and accessibility in adult education.

The fourth day was dedicated to testing the FutureForward trainer platform, an innovative digital tool developed within the project. Participants explored its functionalities and contributed to the evaluation phase through structured feedback questionnaires and post-testing activities aimed at assessing usability and learning impact.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

The FutureForward Training Course was more than just a series of sessions — it was a shared learning journey that strengthened collaboration among European partners and highlighted the transformative potential of AI in making adult education more engaging, inclusive, and future-oriented.
